2021 Bedroom Trends

Fancy giving your bedroom a little update?

Let’s face it, thanks to COVID-19, we’re spending a lot of time indoors at the moment and the bedroom is your personal oasis for sleep and relaxation – something we all need a lot of right now!

So, why not embrace your inner interior designer?

Unlike the rest of the home, the bedroom allows you to be a bit selfish. It’s your space and you’re free to decorate it however you please. But that doesn’t mean you should ignore the latest styles. And to help you get started, here we’ve rounded some of the biggest bedroom trends for 2021.

Take a look. See which you like. And breathe some new life into your bedroom this new year.

1. Clever storage

It’s fair to say, over the last 12 months, our homes have acquired a few extra bits and pieces. From work PCs and exercise equipment to craft supplies and extra toilet rolls (no comment), things have certainly accumulated. Which is why, clever storage is a huge bedroom trend for 2021.

Ottoman beds, in particular, are taking their place in the spotlight. These offer a fantastic way to maximise storage space in the bedroom, whilst also looking sleek and stylish. Fitted wardrobes are also becoming increasingly popular. Typically much bigger than free-standing furniture, they provide extra space for your new loungewear, and will ensure everything is hidden away behind closed doors.

2. Loft-style décor

When you hear the term ‘loft-style bedroom’, you probably think of a bedroom in the loft that can only be accessed via a ladder. But these days, it’s also used to describe a modern and industrial type of interior design – one that’s set to become a massive bedroom trend over the next few months.

It’s all about being chic, minimalistic, and functional. Think open spaces, white sheets and furniture with simple designs. To nail the look, perhaps switch out your busy feature wall for plain white paint and a piece of art? Or swap your traditional wooden wardrobes for a white high-gloss alternative? Just declutter the room as much as possible and transform it into a calming, urban oasis.

3. Green

If neutral palettes aren’t your thing, it’s still ok to add a splash of colour – just as long as it makes a statement, without feeling too over the top. Navy blue has been popular for a while now. But for 2021, dark forest green is predicted to become one of the hottest bedroom design trends.

Maybe it’s because it’s known to have a calming effect? Or because of our desire to bring the outdoors in? Whatever the reason – from feature walls and bedding to throws and cushions – you can’t go wrong with this colour and it offers an easy way to instantly modernise the room.

4. Statement headboards

For 2021, upholstered headboards are making a comeback – and the bigger and bolder, the better.

This particular bedroom trend aims to create a focal point in the room; something that really makes a statement and shows off your personality (whilst being comfortable and practical too!). Bright shades and patterned fabrics are becoming increasingly popular. As well as headboards that are taller, with luxurious curved silhouettes – such as the Hypnos Vienne Floor Standing Headboard in Dark Green, or the Sognatori Valentina Winged Headboard with its plush grey velvet finish.

Choose an eye-catching and unique style and design the rest of the room around that.
