When should you start thinking about buying a new mattress?
If you wake up with aches and pains on a daily basis, which wear off during the course of the day, you should consider buying a new mattress.
How long does a mattress usually last for?
All mattresses differ, depending on the manufacture, quality of the springs, fillings and the unique qualities of the individual. A mattress should last around 8-10 years to ensure that you have sufficient support and comfort, to give you a quality nights sleep and ensure you wake up feeling revived and refreshed.
Should I change my mattress as well as the base at the same time?
When you buy a new bed you should ensure that your base is in good condition, as this could be the cause of your restless night’s sleep. The hard top base not being supportive enough, or the sprung edge/sprung slatted system on your divan/bedstead may be poor/damaged. A platform top divan will give you that extra support throughout your night’s sleep and can make a great difference to the feel of the mattress. A sprung slatted/sprung edged system may give that extra lenience to the utmost firm mattress to give the right individual the perfect amount of comfort/support ratio.
What is the best spring system? There are two types of spring systems;
The traditional spring (bonnell), which is made as an open coil spring. All of the springs are linked together east to west, and basically work as one unit as a whole. This spring system has been used for many years and creates either a soft feel with a 13.5’’ gauge or a firmer orthopaedic feel with a 12.5’’ gauge.
Individual pocket springs give the mattress the most support and comfort as they all work individually to provide you with the best night’s sleep possible. For example, if you buy a 5’0 mattress and your other half has a restless night’s sleep, the benefit of the spring system allows you to not feel their movement as much as you would with an open coil system.
The latest trend in the industry is foam encapsulation which combines, individual pocket springs with reflex and memory foam. Edge to edge supporting foam allows you to be supported when getting in and out of bed, and allows you to enjoy the comfort of the full width of the mattress. The reflex and memory foam capsulated the springs that gives you the comfort and support you desire.
Is a mattress better with less or more springs?
The better quality of the mattress will increase with the spring count. However, a 3000 pocket spring mattress doesn’t mean that it’s the best quality mattress for you as an individual, as it all depends on the fillings on the mattress which determine the comfort.
What is the most comfortable mattress?
A comfortable mattress is defined by the individual’s preferences, as some prefer a firmer mattress, and some prefer something a little more sumptuous. Our online range has a variety of mattresses, use our guide of soft/medium/firm and extra firm to help you chose the mattress that’s best suited for yourself. Alternatively you could call into our Showroom to try and choose your new bed from one of the 70 beds we have on display.
How long does a mattress take to deliver?
All our delivery times vary, if you come in-store some of our suppliers take 4-6 weeks like Hypnos, where as Deepsleep and Highgrove, deliver to us on a weekly basis which allows us to get the product in promptly and delivery to you within a few days of receiving the mattress. Our online delivery times all vary, some are a next day delivery service, which will only be if you order before 11am – any later and it will be carried on to the day after.
