How does an adjustable bed work?
Despite their advanced ‘motion intelligent’ technology, adjustable beds are very user-friendly.
They all have three basic electrical parts – a power source, a handset and motors that control the movement of the bed. Simply plug the bed into a wall socket and, to adjust the position of the mattress, you just need to press the appropriate button on the handset provided. It’s as easy as that.
The handset itself may be hardwired into the bedframe or wireless, allowing you to raise or lower the mattress – cable-free – from anywhere in the room. The motors are near-silent, so they’ll never disturb you or your partner. And some models also come with a backup battery pack, which would kick into action and allow you to continue to use the bed – even in the event of a power cut.
Do adjustable beds use a lot of power?
No – very little power is required to operate an electric adjustable bed. In fact, electricity will only be drawn when you change the position of the frame, and the mattress is in motion.
